Gardening Tools

It getting close to that time of year when we clean up and put the tools to bed for the winter! It’s when we inspect all of the hand tools and tighten bolts, screws and sharpen what needs sharpened. Then after we clean them up good we wipe the wooden handles with linseed oil. We also like to put a thin coat of oil on the metal parts, this helps against rusting in the damp winters. You can also use floor wax, petroleum jelly instead of oil. Then we put them up and out of the way in a dry place till next spring! We drain and roll up all of the hoses and put them away and fix any leaks or hose ends. My husband takes care of the lawn mowers and power tools they have a few extra steps. But the best thing about all of this is it’s that much closer to the next gardening season!! Winter is also a good time to take a look at what tools you have and make up a list of what needs to be replaced for next years season. It’s also a great time of the year to think of any new tools that you’d like to for next years gardening. If your looking for that special gardening tool we’ll have some listed in time for this up coming gardening season. If you don’t see a tool your looking for just let me know and I’ll find it! It might be a gardening tool that I could use also!
